We Have a Crawler (sort of...)!

For the past several weeks, Hud has been trying his hardest to crawl. He gets on his hands and one knee and rocks back and forth willing himself to propel forward. Until this weekend, he hadn't made much progress due to that one pesky leg he couldn't get to cooperate. However, yesterday he made his first real scoot/crawl across the floor! I have a feeling we may miss our baby being stationary...

On Saturday, my good friend Bethany and I left our hubbys with the boys (they have twins) and we went to see Safe Haven. After seeing the movie, I wish I would've read the book first! Also, thanks to Bethany and her super savvy shopping skills, I scored a new diaper bag! She was perusing the aisles at Target (a favorite past time of mine as well) and saw the diaper bag that she purchased a few weeks prior was just marked down again! Being the great friend that she is, she picked it up for me! After a trip to a local shop, it was monogrammed and I was happy!

Overall, we really had a low key weekend which is what I so desperately wanted/needed. Our week started off with a bang with a trip the pediatrician which is always fun. Hud has an ear infection, blah. Poor baby snoozed the whole time we were in the waiting room, which was fine by me!
Bath time is sure to bring smiles!

Best Friend Visit!

I was so excited when my BFF Lauren mentioned that she and her boyfriend might make the trip to South Georgia to visit during their winter break. My friends haven't been down since Hudson was born in July and it makes me really sad that I don't get to see them often! Anyway, Lauren and Seth came down last Friday to spend the weekend with us! I warned her that our lives are so very uninteresting these days but she said they wanted to come anyway :) They didn't get to our house until late (7:00, haha) Friday night so we just ordered pizza and called it a night. Saturday, Drew and I were up nice and early, but we didn't wake up Lauren as Seth though it was tempting :) We made our way to Hurricanes in Tallahassee for lunch and it was delicious. Hudson decided he didn't want us to enjoy a full meal, so he proceeded to fuss requiring Drew and I to eat in shifts (which we've become quite used to).

After lunch we went to Hobby Lobby then to Nuberri for dessert. The rest of the afternoon was spent hanging out, playing with Hudson and enjoying my friend! We grilled hamburgers Saturday night and went to bed at 9. Apparently even just being around a baby wears you out :) They left early Sunday morning and we went to church. It was a wonderful weekend and if anyone wants to come visit, Lauren can tell you how exciting we are!

Also, another newsworthy event of the weekend...Hudson had a tooth! That's right! Actually Lauren spotted it first (since I'm such an observant mom and all)

A Weekend of Pinterest-ing

Last weekend, my parents were in town and that always means I have a list of projects for my mom to help me complete. This past weekend was no exception.
I saw this post on Pinterest about framing old, handwritten recipes. I knew that my Nannie (mom's mom) and my mom both loved/love to cook and to find new recipes. My Nannie was notorious for writing recipes on random pieces of paper (i.e. a Guideposts envelope) and using short hand that no one could decipher except for her. My mom brought down a whole pile of old recipes that were yellow, torn and worn and I loved them all. It was hard to pick a few to display, but the ones I chose had a ton of character. After deciding on frame placement and sizes, we ventured down to Hobby Lobby to look for some frames. Being the indecisive shopper that I am, this proved to be a difficult task. I ended up buying two 8x10 frames and holding off on the others until they make their way to the sale circuit. I framed 2 recipes as soon as I got home and couldn't be happier with the result. They make our breakfast nook much more cozy!

Our second project of the weekend was one that had been hanging out on my DIY Pinterest board for several months. I kept hearing about these "engineer prints" that you could get printed at Staples that were HUGE and super cheap! I knew that we needed a big statement piece on the left side of our fireplace since the ceilings are so tall. My mom had already purchased four 24x24 pieces of wood for a nursery project that we never completed, so I thought this would be perfect for this new photo project! I uploaded some images to a jump drive and we made our way down to Staples. When I told the people at the photo/copy desk what my intentions were, they looked at me like I was crazy. One of the employees told me that engineer prints were on very thin paper and my images would be pixilated (is that a word?) because of the lower resolution. I simply informed him that I had seen this done on Pinterest and I wanted them printed anyway. They were able to print 24x24 images for $2.20 each. Even if the whole project was a disaster at least I didn't have a lot of money tied up in it! Alas, I got my engineer prints and headed home (with some spray adhesive). The employee even told me he didn't think they would turn out as good as they did! When we got home, we set up shop in the driveway (the blogs I read about this project said to make sure not to use the spray adhesive in the house, ha!). Once we sprayed the board, we rolled the print onto it, smoothing it out as we went. I will say that I wish we had been a little more diligent in smoothing it because the first print we did dried with air bubbles :( But, I love the way they turned out!

I really think it will be easy to change out the pictures as Hud grows! Our house is finally looking more like a home :)
