Slacking Blog Skills

So I've majorly slacked on the blogging front this past week. As you remember from my last post, Hudson and I both came down with a stomach virus and he ended up staying sick for the majority of the week (insert 2 trips to the doctor and one trip to the lab for blood work). Needless to say, I super paranoid about our planned visit to see my parents because I was just waiting on more baby sickness. However, we ended up having an awesome visit to Monroe to see my parents AND I got to shop and see some of my best friends! It was a win-win! The 4 hour trip to my parents was definitely not a pleasant one though. Hudson screamed for the last 2 hours straight. Poor guy.

We didn't really do a whole lot...ate Mexican, got frozen yogurt, went to church, and I finally got a new phone! The trip back to Thomasville is always a little sad for me because I miss "home" so much. It was made a little better knowing my parents are coming down for Easter! I was super pumped about the remainder of my spring break because I had absolutely nothing planned. And I mean nothing. Hudson and I played and napped everyday and it was glorious! He's learned how to pull himself up and is now crawling and pulling himself up on everything. It has resulted in quite a few bumps on his head, but I guess those are inevitable.

We had a wonderful, wonderful week which just makes me that much more anxious for summer!

Not Enough Lysol

Happy Tuesday!
This weekend was just...ugh. I succumbed to the terrible stomach bug on Saturday and was worthless ALL day. My sickness was confirmed with Drew when he realized I had a fever (apparently he thought I was "over-reacting"). I finally started feeling better late Saturday night only to be woken up greeted with baby throw up at 4 a.m. Just, ugh.
Hudson was sick all. day. long. He cried and cried and cried some more and we felt so completely worthless as parents. Late Sunday afternoon we thought he might be feeling better and we ventured outside for some fresh air and I snapped these precious pictures.

Anyway, we thought he was on the road to recovery only to be covered in copious amounts of baby vom last night. I almost lost it. For real. Needless to say, everything in our house has been washed like 238075298345 times and hopefully I've seen the last of it for a while (fingers crossed).

So this week we'll just try to survive because next week is my SPRING BREAK! YESSSS! I'm so excited I can hardly contain myself. We're going to visit my parents this weekend (it's been five long weeks since I've seen them) and then I have plans for a whole lotta nothing next week. Hopefuly the weather will be nice and Hudson and I can enjoy some sunshine!

InstaFriday

Sharing my week through Instagram!
life rearranged

I know it's a repeat picture, but it's so cute! Last Friday night dinner date with the Hilburns! Hud munching on a rice cake while we wait for our pizza.

We made a Saturday morning trip to Lowe's. This is Hudson's new favorite way to ride in the shopping cart...leg propped up. We got lots of compliments on that precious hat.

I switched out the attachment on my Happy Everything plate. I love this little Easter bunny! Sometimes it's the only festive decor in the house [unless the baby toys count].

Saturday night we went to the wedding of one of Drew's friends. It was absolutely freezing [notice the heavy coat inside]. But, it was beautiful nonetheless. Congrats Jamie and Jason!
I can't handle the cuteness. Giving huge, sloppy, wet, open mouthed kisses is Hud's new obsession and I can't say I hate it. This little boy has my heart!

Somehow I have managed to demolish 3 bags of trail mix this week. This little combo from Target is my absolute favorite. Sometimes when I buy it I keep it in my car so I don't have to share. Sorry Drew!

Our buddies Griffin and Knox [and Bethany] came over Thursday night. After a messy pizza dinner, they all got thrown in the tub! I'm not sure Hudson knew what to think with two more babies splashing around him, but they all seemed to enjoy it!

And that was my week in pictures. I think I did a much better job documenting my life!

Avocado Chicken Salad

If anyone took a look at my "deliciousness" Pinterest board, you'd think I loved to cook. In reality, I just love to look at pictures of food. However, I am sick and tired of eating turkey sandwiches for lunch everyday and when I ran across this yummy recipe while perusing Pinterest, I figured I'd give it a shot. I had Drew cook up the chicken for me (those who know me know I have an aversion to touching raw meat) and I simply mixed in the avocado, onion, cilantro, and lime. It definitely didn't disappoint! I didn't snap a picture because, frankly, mine wasn't nearly as pretty as the one on the website. But, take my word for it, it was delicious!

In other cooking news, I guess my success with the chicken salad led me to believe I was a killer chef and could whip up any of my Pinterest recipes. So, last night I decided to try a crock pot recipe for cilantro lime chicken tacos (since I already had the ingredients). I even prepped the crock pot before leaving for work, sure that we would have a fabulous meal waiting when I got home. My feelings of being Super-Mom quickly faded when I walked in the door. O.M.G. I knew it was bad news. I peeked into the crock pot and saw black. All black. I peeled the chicken out and this is what we were left with...
Looks appetizing, huh? I'm almost embarassed to post this. I suppose this incident put me back in my place as a "chef." Better luck next time :) And, no, we did NOT eat this!

Weekend Recap

I usually like to reserve my weekends for doing absolutely nothing; however, this weekend we ended up being pretty busy! Friday night, we took Hud and met our friends, the Hilburns, at our favorite pizza place: Paulie's. They are expecting their first baby in July (just a few weeks after Hudson's first birthday!), and I am so excited! Needless to say, the looks of our typical Friday night out has changed drastically :)

Downing pitchers of Coke

On Saturday, I spent the morning cleaning the house and Drew cut the grass (exciting, I know). That afternoon, my in-laws came over to watch Hudson and we headed off to a wedding. I can't believe I didn't get a picture of Drew and I dressed up. It happens so rarely, but alas, the only picture I have from the evening is of myself and my sister-in-law dominating some cheesecake bites while everyone else was dancing!

Some exciting news from the end of our weekend was Hudson giving me kisses! I have no idea where he acquired this new skill, but I love it! They aren't so much kisses as him trying to eat my face, but I'll take it!

Insta-Friday

So I have majorly slacked in taking photos this week. My new resolution is to document something (besides Hudson's sweet face) everyday. Hopefully I can stick to it...in the meantime, here are the very few pictures I took this week. Linking up with Life Rearranged for Insta-Friday.

This cutie pie has really been on the move this week. He's turned from a scooter to a full blown crawler!

On Tuesday, we went for a walk with Kim and Hud's buddy Will. It was a beautiful day...much needed after 4 days straight of rain! The excitement was a little too much for Hud to bear. He passed out about 15 minutes into our walk.

My favorite pictures are quickly becoming food pictures. Hudson is a hilariously messy eater!
This week also brought our first taste of yogurt in attempts of helping his tummy adjust to the antibiotic...I think it's safe to say he's a huge fan!
