five on friday

happy friday! i feel like this week has lasted ten! we're leaving at bedtime tonight and heading to monroe for an engagement party for my bff! i'm super pumped out seeing my sweet friends :) here's my five on friday!

[one] clothes. y'all i haven't bought any clothes for myself in TWO months. that's monumental. i'm feeling pretty proud of myself.

[two] exercise. i've had a super hard time getting back into an exercise routine since hudson was born. i have major mommy guilt taking him to childcare at the gym when he's been in daycare all day. this month, they just added a 7:30 spin class at the y so i've been a few times. i'm still trying to make it part of my routine, but i feel like some new workout clothes would motivate me [like this top] :)

[three] food. i've had a major sweet tooth for the past few weeks. i've made brownies, blondies, cookies and have ingested more sugar than i care to admit. but, y'all. these dark chocolate covered mini pretzels from trader joe's are to. die. for. i could seriously eat the whole bag in one sitting. you're welcome.

[four] family. i'm super excited to see my family this weekend. i get homesick every few months, and i can't explain the feeling of pulling into my parent's driveway that just makes me smile! love these two!

[five] hudson. he has started putting two words together this week making this SLP mama super proud! i can't believe how fast he's growing, changing and learning. with growing comes the need to buy new spring/summer clothes. although i'm not really complaining because that means i get to buy clothes for someone even if it's not myself!

The 5 days after the weekend...

The 5 days after the weekend are always the longest! That's the truth. Our weekends seem to go by at warp speed (especially when we're blessed with beautiful weather like Saturday).

On Friday, I stayed home with a sick little guy. Wednesday when I picked him he seemed to be getting a fever, but on Thursday he seemed fine only running 99-100. Drew stayed home with him Thursday, so when it was my turn Friday I thought we'd have an easy day since he appeared to be on the mend. Boy was I wrong. He woke up super early and super cranky. He actually ended up taking two 2.5 hour naps (which NEVER happens) and after his afternoon nap his temp was up to 103.1. Ugh. Thankfully after that round, his fever never reappeared and he's been fine (knock on wood). Those "fever viruses" can be so stressful! Needless to say, we did lots of cuddling and tv watching.

On Saturday, the weather was awesome. Drew was helping some friends move, so I headed over the Warrens to drop some things off and decided to go ahead and eat lunch with them. We had pizza (obv) and the boys enjoyed an impromptu picnic. So much fun!

Saturday afternoon, I convinced Drew to hang up the goods Bethany picked up for me on her trip to Ikea. I've been trying to figure out a good way to display Hudson's artwork and saw several of these curtain wires on Pinterest. I can't wait to fill up the photo ledge too! We decided to hang it in the guest bedroom since we've done nothing in there since we moved in. And, it's the room my parents stay in when they visit, so of course they'll love looking at Hudson's art!

Here's hoping the rest of the week flies by :) We're headed to Monroe this weekend for an engagement party for Lauren & Seth! WooHoo!

weekend recap [valentine's edition]

Hi Y'all! I know everyone is super tired of reading about my Valentine's shenanigans, but I'll say it again...it's so much fun with a kiddo!

Just a quick rundown of our lives lately...my mom came down last Monday [early to avoid the imminent ice headed for Atlanta] and spent ALL week with us! It was absolutely glorious! She kept Hudson a few days [and even ended up in the top of the chickfila playplace] and took one day and filled up our freezer with meals! She's seriously the best.

Hudson loves his Nana so much. He's asked for "Nana/Ahpa" at least 10x a day since she left Saturday. Mom was also nice enough to take HMan to the doctor on Friday. We suspected he had an ear infection because he was cran.ky. Our doctor confirmed and he started antibiotics and is hopefully on the mend. While they were in Tallahassee at the doctor, mom took Hud and his Valentine's by his school for their "party." With my mom in town, I was able to get a little crafty with the treats :)

We also did a little finger painting at Hud's request [which is a huge deal if you know him] and he loved it!

After my mom left on Saturday, we decided to take advantage of the beautiful weather and head to the park. Since Hud loves to climb, he was in heaven. He also insisted on climbing up the big kid's slide [much to my dismay]. Seriously, the kid has no fear.

After the park, we went to Lowe's and Hudson drove us home [jk]. He was cearly tuckered out from the park!

Saturday night we had our Life Group social at the Warren's house. The theme was Valentine's Amazing Race. The spouse against spouse competition was hilariouis [I beat Drew in case you were wondering]

Annnd Sunday was super lazy [another beautiful day]. We are super pumped for warmer weather around here!

Have a great week!

Party People

Hiii! This weekend was full of Valentine's shenanigans. I used to kind of hate Valentine's Day, but it has a whole new meaning with a kid! I have decorated and crafted my little heart out. As I mentioned in a previous post, I searched high and low on what to do as Valentine's gifts this year. I showed a little preview of what I decided to make for Hudson's class, but my friend Bethany hosted a kids Valentine's party at her house this past Saturday so I needed another idea! After pouring over my favorite blogs, I decided to straight up copy the girl in the red shoes' dinosaur cards. They turned out so stinkin' cute! I just printed them off and backed them with some chevron paper and regular red scrapbook paper. I found some cute dinosaur stickers at Hobby Lobby and attached those with bakers twine and called it a day!

Then, I let Hudson "decorate" the backs of the cards with stickers and foam hearts.

I thought they turned out pretty cute! It look a lot of self control not to neatly place the stickers on the cards [OCD habits die hard].

We went to dinner at the Warren's house on Wednesday and Bethany offered to let Hudson and I go ahead and do the craft she had scheduled for the party. Hudson is always less than happy to have his hands and feet dipped in paint. I figured if I tried to mix his attitude toward crafts + 18 other kids it would've equaled disaster and probably tears from me. They're absolutely adorable!

I cannot believe that I didn't take a SINGLE picture at the party :( Everything was so cute [of course] and Hudson had a blast playing and making homemade heart pizzas. I spent the entire time chasing him around, per usual.

In other Valentine's related news, my mom has discovered how to make toddler neckties and whipped up one for Hudson to wear to school on Friday! I'm so thankful for a mom that loves to sew  and can't wait for him to debut them :)

So, I promise I'm nearing the end of my Valentine's ramblings (on to St. Patricks Day & Easter!)

Hudson: 19 Months

Weight: 23+ lbs
Height: 32.5"
Teeth: 16 maybe? (he won't cooperate with my counting)

Diapers: Size 4
Tops: 18-24 months
Pants: Mostly 18-24 months (with adjustable waist band)

Naps: Usually one nap per day - 12ish-2ish
Sleep: HA. Usually he goes to sleep around 7:30, and wakes up anywhere from 4:00-6:00

You love to tell all of your toys "bye bye" and "night night" before you leave the room. You also love to make animal sounds. You've got a few 2 word combinations ("no mama", "bye bye daddy"). We're working hard on asking for help! You've got about 40 words in your vocabulary and do great at repeating and imitating us!

Taking you out to eat is becoming more and more of a headache. You HATE to sit still and always want to go! We've pretty much resigned ourselves to restaurants where we get food fast :/

You still absolutely love to read books! We've always read about 23984723 books a day to you, but recently you've started going in your room and "reading" to yourself. It's so precious.

You still love to go to school which is such a blessing to us and makes me feel significantly less guilty about leaving you everyday. Your teachers send me sweet pictures!

We've been working SO hard on harnessing your incredible energy! Sometimes you're a little too rough and your friends don't like it! You love to play with Hank and he tolerates you well. You've also recently started requesting different blankets and "snuggling" on the couch.

You LOVE all cars, trucks, and balls. You're ALL boy and I love you so, so much!

Weekend = Exhausted

Y'all. Our toddler is crazy! He is absolutely wearing us out. Between the inconsistent sleep, tantrums, and NO fear, I am going to have to start dying my hair a darker color. Don't get me wrong, we are so thankful for a healthy, happy little boy, but geez we're tired!

On Friday night we stayed in, put Hudson to bed at 7:30 and followed him shortly after. On Saturday morning, I got up with Hudson and let Drew sleep a little while longer, then we switched off. Drew snapped this picture of our daredevil. I swear you can't look away for .5 seconds.

Around lunchtime on Saturday, we headed over to Bainbridge to celebrate Drew's grandfather's 85th (I think) birthday. Hudson didn't nap at all Saturday afternoon, so Saturday night he was crazy! For some reason, I can't get the video to load. But for a mental picture, he was running around with a bucket on his head :)

Sunday was pretty lazy. We went to church, napped and I grocery shopped with a screaming toddler. I'm hoping this is just a phase (maybe teeth) that Hud is going through and is not going to be the norm.

Drew also completed, yet another, antler project for me this weekend. A necklace holder!

Have a great week!
